When I am Dead, My Dearest

Christina Rossetti生于1830年卒于1894年，是一個虔誠的英國聖公會教徒(Anglican),為了其宗教信仰，Christina終生未婚，曾經有一位信奉羅馬天主教的人和一個無宗教信仰的追求她，但為了宗教信仰，她都未準。比她大兩歲的哥哥，Dante Rossetti也是一位詩人，是前拉斐爾兄弟會的成員之一。有人說她的愛情詩給人一種像“修女的感覺”。下面這首詩是她的一首比較有名的作品，其中包含了感情的酸甜苦辣。
 

When I am dead, my dearest,
Sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
And if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
