英語應用文寫作之請柬

請柬（Invitation）
所謂正式社交書信是使用于隆重的社交活動的信件，亦即請柬，如在教堂中舉行婚禮的請柬、大型宴會的請柬、舞會請柬等。
 請柬是邀請親友的書面通知，措辭要恰當，并有一定的格式。正式請柬要用優質白色的雙摺卡。正面用雕版精印。卡紙可用平面的。請柬和複函都用第三人稱來寫。格式用美觀而不規則的縮行形式排列在一頁内。姓名要全部寫出來。時間如星期幾、日期、月份和地點均須寫明。正式請柬亦可手寫，但整個頁面的安排須完全仿照印刷請柬的形式。
 晚宴、舞會等請柬用“request the pleasure (or honor) of your company ”來邀請。在教堂結婚，邀請出席婚禮用“request the honor of your presence” ，中文的意思是“敬請出席”或“恭請光臨“。

注：

R.S.V.P. 是法語 “Répondez, s’il vous plait”的縮寫，意思是：“Reply if you please”, 中文意為：“請賜回示/請惠複/賜複”。亦可用下列辭句：

接到正式請柬後應盡可能在24小時内予以答複。如果不能赴宴，須明确說明原因，以便女主人可以有時間另作安排。下面是一份接受波特先生和夫人請柬的複函格式。
1). 接受邀請

特夫人收”。
2). 婉謝邀請
 如果夫婦二人一起被邀參加一個正式宴會，而丈夫不能赴宴，其妻應複函告知二人均不能赴宴。例如，金先生不在城裡，金夫人可寫下列的複函給伯特夫人：

Owing to Mr. Benjamin King’s
 absence from town on business
Mrs. king
regrets she is unable to accept
Mr. and Mrs. Henry James Porter’s
kind invitation
on Saturday, the fifteenth of September

注：1．洗禮
 ① 〈基督教Christ.〉接受人入教時所舉行的一種宗教儀式，把水滴在受洗人的額上，或讓受洗人身體浸在水裡，表示洗淨過去的罪惡。
