（2）過程型動詞：

過程型動詞表示人或物在數量、質量、程度、體積、速度、力量、外觀、顔色、方向等各種特征方面變化、發展、增大或減少的過程。這類動詞一般都有延續時間，可以用于進行時态，說明延續的過程。這類動詞有change，alter，turn，mature，ripen，develop，grow，age，improve，increase，accelerate，decline，decrease，reduce，decelerate，diminish，widen，flatten，deepen，shorten，lengthen，weaken等，例如：

b．The leaves are turning brown．

（樹葉正在由綠色變成棕色。）

49）a．They are changing the appearance of the museum．

b．The appearance of the museum is being changed．

c．The appearance of the museum is changing．

（這座博物館正在改觀。）

（這艘船正在改變航向。）

b．My hair is greying．

（我的頭發逐漸變灰白。）

52）a．These apples are maturing fast．

b．These apples are becoming mature fast．

c．These apples are ripening fast．

d．These apples are becoming ripe fast．

（這些蘋果正在很快地成熟。）

c．The boy is becoming more interested in stamps．

d．Stamps are becoming more interesting to the boy．
