 祝賀信（Letter of Congratulation）
 在西方，當知道某一位朋友要訂婚、結婚或生了孩子的時候， 當知道某一位朋友得到榮譽或獎賞時，往往會立刻寫信祝賀。對于這種書信的要求是：真誠自然，親切動人。
 祝賀信是特别容易寫的，寫起來也特别使人愉快，因為人們都樂于把朋友的喜事看作是自己的喜事，這種信是鼓舞人心的信，可以盡情的發揮。
1． 祝賀訂婚（Congratulations on an Engagement）
  在習慣上，歐美人寫信祝賀友人訂婚或結婚時，大多是寫給男方，但在信中應向女方表示同樣美好的祝願。例如：

Dear Shelley,
 I’ve heard the news of your engagement and hasten to congratulate you. That’s great news about you and Lenore! She’s a wonderful girl in every way, and I congratulate you on your good fortune.
 Best wishes from me on your engagement. I hope you will have nothing but joy and happiness in your life together.

2． 祝賀結婚（Congratulations on Marriage）
 當你接到結婚請柬以後，應盡快寫信向新郎新娘表示祝賀，這種信的擡頭和信封常常是寫給新郎和新娘兩個人的，但是也可以單獨寫給新郎或新娘。例如：

 Mr. Tang and I send you both our love, and best wishes for every happiness that life can bring.

4． 祝賀生日 (Congratulations on a Birthday）
 
 祝賀生日時，人們常常使用現成的祝賀卡片。但是親筆寫一封短信，哪怕是寥寥數語，也會給人以鄭重感。因此，祝賀親友的生日，最好親筆寫一封祝賀信，而不是用卡片。

 You may not like to be reminded that you are a year older today — but that’s not going to keep me from saying “ Happy Birthday!”
